ITS ACCESSORIES COMPETITION
ITS ACCESSORIES is a natural extension of ITS to give a more complete overview on the most creative young talents in fashion with a dedicated contest for all accessories design graduates and young accessories designers.
This is organised in partnership with YKK, an international group of companies with a leading position in the fastenings industry that strongly believes in supporting creativity. The accessories competition allows YKK to explore the many out-of-the-ordinary creations that can be produced with innovative uses of their fastenings.
10-15 accessories designers will be selected for the finals. They will come to Trieste, Italy on 13-14 July 2012 and their accessories will be displayed in a dedicated static exhibition. ITS 2012 will be a showcase of the highest expression of creativity from some of the world's leading fashion and accessories schools.
TIMELINE
- 23 March 2012: Deadline to enrol
- 19 April 2012: Pre-selection of finalists
- 13-14 July 2012: Finals in Trieste
Finalists will compete for two awards. The winner of Accessories Collection of the Year will receive €5,000 and will be asked to create a new accessories collection to be presented at ITS 2012. The winner of the YKK Award will receive €10,000. YKK may make use of the winning item in promotional advertising. The award will be judged on the following criteria and the production of the finalists' designs should highlight: The designer's ability to enhance an accessory in an original and technically advanced way by using a YKK fastening system; The designer's ability to use a YKK fastening system as the main factor to enhance the overall quality and look of an accessory. The overall winner's accessory will combine functional meaning with an element of beauty.
ITS is a bridge between fashion schools and the fashion industry and all of the work placements, internships and special projects granted to the finalists after the event to prove it. We collaborate regularly with brands like Diesel (of course), Antonio Marras, MaxMara, John Galliano, Armani and Viktor & Rolf, to mention a few.
