How do I enter the competition?

What do I need to send with my portfolio?

Can I enter even if I am not a student?

Yes, you can, as long as you have recently worked or are working as a photographer either for someone else or free lance on your own.

Where and when will the event take place?

For the ITS#PHOTO finalists, the event will take place in Trieste (ITALY) from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 July 2011. The Fashion Show & Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday 16 July 2011 at 09.00 pm.

Can I enrol in ITS#PHOTO even if I enrolled in previous editions of ITS?

Yes, you can, if you meet the eligibility requirements.

Can more than one person enter as a team?

Yes, they can, but they must make sure they all meet the eligibility requirements. A maximum of two people may enter one collection together. Please note that each person must fill in their own information and sign their part on the ITS pre-registration form.

What are the age restrictions for enrolment in ITS#PHOTO?

There are no age restrictions, however, eligibility is restricted to college or university students in their final year of a photography course (BA or MA) who will graduate in 2011, graduates of photography programs, who received their diploma in 2007 or later or young talents not in possession of a diploma in photography but work as photographers.

How much will it cost me to participate?

Entry is free of charge. Entrants are, however, entirely responsible for all entry-related costs, such as duplication of documents, materials, and postage. If chosen as finalists, they are also required to print the photos that will be used in the ITS#PHOTO exhibition in the size that will be specified to them, these printing and shipping costs must be covered by finalists.

What is the deadline to enter the competition?

All enrolling material must reach our offices by and no later than 7 April 2011.

Can I send my material for ITS#PHOTO via email in addition to or instead of by post?

No. Material will be accepted by post only. Do not send any material by email. Please pack your photographs carefully, as we cannot be responsible for damaged portfolios.

What are the judging criteria?

Judging criteria are creativity and technical skills.

Can I attend the ITS#PHOTO exhibit?

Yes. Contact booking@itsweb.org after 3 May 2011 to get a ticket. Seats are limited, get them while they last.

Who can be part of the ITS TALENT database?

ITS TALENT contains the data of all the finalists who will participate in ITS. It started with the first edition competitors and will continue with all finalists of every consecutive edition.

How long will the competitors data remain in the database?

As long as ITS exists.

Can I send enrolling material in a format differing from A4 or letter size (8" 1/2 x 11")?

Yes, but only as additional material. If you have portfolios larger than the A4 or letter size format, you will have to an additional photocopies an A4 or letter size format.

Is it possible to participate with less than 8 or more than 14 photos?

No, it is not.

Can one project entered include more than one orientation? Orientation meaning landscape (horizontal) or portrait (vertical).

Yes. A project can include more than one orientation. Please always clearly specify the correct orientation to view the picture.

Can I enrol more than one project in ITS#PHOTO?

No, you can not. You can enrol only one project in ITS#PHOTO.

What is the theme for ITS#PHOTO at ITS#NINE?

The theme for ITS#PHOTO is “Open the possibilities”: give us your vision and your interpretation.

How will I know the results of the pre-selections?

The results will be published promptly after pre-selections (27 April 2011) on the ITS website. Only selected finalists will be contacted personally by the EVE agency.

What will I have to do if I am selected?

You will receive detailed instructions shortly after the pre-selections.

What if I have problems uploading my photo?

Be sure to complete the entry form in its entirety. Then, make sure that the photo is low-resolution, max 500 K and in JPEG format. If you have any problems, please call the Schools and Contestants Office at +39 040 322 0932.

What if I have problems pre-registering online?

Make sure you’ve filled out all the necessary fields to complete your registration. And remember you can save and go back to your registration as many times as you want before finally submitting, in case you do not have all of your data at hand when you register.

What about my property rights?

All the photos of all the projects submitted remain the property of the applicants. Any and every time your photos are used by EVE or ITS for promotional or communication purposes, the photos will always carry the photographers credit line.

What about copyrights?

The photographer shall retain property of all the copyrights.

What about advertising rights?

If you are chosen as a finalist, you cannot sell or receive monetary payments from any third party for the photos you enrolled in ITS#PHOTO. You can use the photos to promote yourself or your work, but you cannot receive money for those photos until after 16 July 2011. EVE or ITS does not have advertising rights.

Where do I send my portfolio for ITS#PHOTO?

After pre-registering online, you will need to print out your application form and include it with your complete portfolio. The last page of your entry form contains a CD label and an address label. Just in case, our postal address is:
