After graduating at Arnhem Fashion Institute, Hiroaki Kanai was selected as a finalist for ITS#FASHION at ITS#FOUR, where he presented a dreamlike and sort of futuristic, Dune-style collection.
After that, he worked on another collection presented in 2007 and on several intercultural learning projects like the "made in Mirrors" project, an exchange project aimed at opening up perspectives between the Netherlands, China and Brazil. The project lead also to the publication of a book in collaboration with Beijing based artists Elaine Wing-ah Ho, "Guangzhou City Reports", based on observations from everyday life as well as during the workshop given at the South China Agricultural University College of the Arts in Guangzhou.
Hiroaki is now working on a new compact collection which can be viewed on his website. The collection is entitled "Numbered".
