How to show the creative work of our talents into a Hapsburg office

The offices of EVE, on the third floor of a Hapsburg building in the centre of Trieste, right in front of the sea, have always been a nice place to work. It's true, there's no lift, but hey, a bit of exercise every morning just helps keeping in shape (depends on what you did the night before...)! Ancient parquets, white walls, high old doors, tall ceilings, huge rooms filled with funny people moving around like buzzing bees in a hive. Somehow though something was missing. Like a wonderful woman with no make up at all, you know she is gorgeous anyway, yet you realise that with perhaps the right lipstick she'd add something to her looks, and tell something more of who she is. The severe ancient Hapsburg white was looking for a cultural cross, a mixing of austerity and unpredictability, signs here and there of what happens inside every day. Mom always said: "there's two kinds of people: those that do things the right way, and those that do things the wrong way. Which group do you belong to?". EVErs always try to do all things the right way, therefore, for this major restyling of the offices, they thought and thought and thought about it. How to display the creative ideas of our talents? How to give a special touch to the place where unconventional people organize unconventional events? We needed a professional in set ups, someone to translate our ideas. Who better than Alessandro Ruzzier (the photographer/craftsman/music and video artist that set up the accessories exhibition for ITS#THREE, visionix@libero.it in case you want to contact him) and his innate sense for creation, could help us creating a real exhibition inside the EVE offices?

It's amazing what simple materials and lots of creativity can do: ITS icons falling into broken walls, white-painted tree branches (taken from a local river, the Isonzo) used as lamps floating from the ceiling, pieces of portfolios, photos of outfits and pieces of textiles collected in multicolour pockets (one for each ITS finalist) mounted on three different panels representing the three editions of ITS

There's a huge world map on the wall right in front of the entrance, with small photos (they are very tiny, you have to look carefully!) of all the faces of past and present finalists of ITS attached on the country from where they come from. The world map is ready to welcome signatures and phrases, objects and desires, following the history and the future of ITS (if you pass by, you are invited to drop a message!).

There's stars on the walls in the corridor (to remind us that the sky is not the limit) from which steel pipes come out, twisted and shaped into hangers to sustain the material results of the ITS finalists' creativity: outfits and...Diesel Collections!

The looks of our offices now have radically changed. Alessandro's work has been really amazing, and we are really proud of the results. Now, when you walk in the rooms, you can really understand what the people working inside it do, and what they like. There's also another equally important reason why we did it: in this way, every member of the ITS staff has always under his eyes all of the history of ITS. He can stop in front of the ITS#ONE panel for example, and have a look at the finalists of the 1st edition. Not all EVErs are in the team since the beginning, but in this way, simply walking around the office, they have all the information at their disposal, and can see where ITS started and where it is going: all those names along the walls, all those pockets filled with dreams and hopes, the lamps and the clothes floating in mid-air as if suspended, magenta rays projected on the corridors...all of you guys are now a lot closer to us than before!
