Danielle Mourning shoots in Hong Kong
June 19, 2006
Just as the winner of Fashion Collection of the Year comes back the year after to present a new collection, this year the guests of ITS#FIVE will have the chance to see a set of photos by Danielle Mourning, winner of the MINIInternational Photo Award at ITS#FOUR. We do this because we believe that it is very interesting for who comes at the event in July to see what the winner of the past edition has been working on after winning the prize. You can see their progress, the changes in style....this is what we want to show: their evolution. Danielle shot the pictures as part of the prize she was awarded last year: together with visibility on the MINIInternational magazine & website as well as some pocket money, Danielle won the chance to do a photo shoot that was published in the magazine. This same issue will be distributed to all of the guests at ITS#FIVE, who will find it inside the ITS bag. Maybe not all of you know that MINIInternational magazine dedicates every issue to a specific city in the world, focusing on architecture, people and coolest spots there, in order to give an overview. Danielle had the lucky chance to shoot pictures for the Hong Kong issue. She was involved in all of the process: first, she flew to Germany to talk with the creative team of the magazine and decide what they wanted her to shoot, then in March she grabbed her cameras and an adequate amount of film (as well as, we hope, a bag with a few clothes in it...) and flew to the Far East landing in Hong Kong, a city that immediately fascinated her with its contrasts: a very sophisticated and modern town that still has its rural markets with areas that take you back in time. |

With her camera hand and eyes focused on catching any interesting image & situation, Danielle soon realised that there is an amazing amount of things to shoot over there: incredibly photogenic faces, each telling a different story, urban landscapes, colours...the camera went "click click click" while in her mind a thought was beginning to get stronger and stronger: "I have to come back to this place, actually, I have to go around all of China!" Hong Kong was very stimulating for Danielle, who found there new ideas and creative inspiration. The result is in front your eyes in this article: here is just a very very little portion of the photos that Danielle shot (she took hundreds of pics but, you know, magazines usually do not have thousands of pages or just a single article in them, so a big selection was made and these 6 pics were chosen), but they can give you an idea of the kind of pictures she did. Danielle is going to be back at ITS#FIVE as a member of the Photo Jury, with professionals of the field like Paul Hetherington and Cecilia Dean, just to mention a few. And this is not all: in the Photo Exhibition area, all of the guests of ITS#FIVE will have the chance to see more of the pictures she shot in Hong Kong. So this here is just an anticipation. You will get to see the rest on 13 July, 9pm, in the Olde Fishmarket in the centre of Trieste..... "The next ITS#FIVE photography winner will be so fortunate" says Danielle. "This past year has been one of great importance as the exposure with winning ITS#FOUR opened many doors and opportunities for me. Thank you to everyone at ITS and MINIInternational". |
