We want all of you!

February 06, 2007

Everyone has objectives. You might be a climber and your objective getting to the top of mount Anapurna in the Himalayas. Or maybe you're an ice - skater and your objective landing that triple tolup you've been trying so hard and so long to get. It's always good to have objectives: It means you're restless and alive and that you won't stop until you make it.
We at ITS also have objectives: the first one is to look for creativity all over the world, the second one is to think about how we can support it in the best way. So in the midst of the hundreds of new projects, upgrades and problems we face during the year, we always make space and time so we can think about how to develop these two concerns which are at the top of our list of priorities: search creativity, support creativity. Concerning the latter, we've come up with a new idea we think you're going to like....

The idea came about when we put together two of the tools we have at International Talent Support: an archive made of thousands of portfolios from all of the past editions and well established contacts with some of the most important fashion houses around. We've always remained in touch with most of our ITS finalists since the very first edition in 2002 because we wanted to go on supporting them, and we've found internships, work experiences and job opportunities for them in places like Diesel, Armani, John Galliano, Yves Saint Laurent, Marras, MaxMara... but why not give everyone an opportunity, even those who don't apply to ITS? So when we said to ourselves: "Why don't we open a recruitment area!!" it was the next obvious step to take...it was already there just waiting for us to see it.
So very soon you're going to see something new on our website. It will be on the homepage, and it will be visible and very clear. When you click on it, you will enter a totally new area of itsweb.org, dedicated entirely to recruitment. If you are a fashion designer or an accessories designer, if you have already graduated (or are about to in 2007) and in search of a job, a work placement or interested in working on a special project, this is the place for you. Through this area of the website you will have the chance to send us your material and personal details, and they will become part of an archive which we will refer towhenever a fashion house or a fashion-oriented company asks us to find a designer for them. If your profile matches the requests, we will contact you or put you directly in touch with them!

We have made it as simple as possible, so all you are going to need is a computer, a good internet connection and a scanner to scan your portfolio and your sketches so that you can send them to us. What you need to keep in mind is that fashion houses and companies, besides obviously searching for prepared and talented designers, look for someone who is a good drawer, both technically and artistically. Your tech and art sketches will therefore be looked at very carefully. Reliability will also be an essential characteristic: if you send your material but afterwards decide that you are not available anymore, you will have to notify us. If you are not reliable you will be cancelled from this archive out of respect for those who do everything they are asked to do.
Therefore if you arrive late and miss the deadline (March 24!!) to enroll in ITS, or for any other reason you won't be part of it, do not worry because now our support goes beyond the ITS bounderies. If you are like us and have an objective, we might be the ones who can help you achieve it. Keep an eye out on itsweb.org for any changes to the home page...it's recruitment time!!
