Worldwide spotlights on a breakthrough talent

March 12, 2007

Sometimes echo you can hear after showing your talent at our event is very loud.
ITS#FIVE's "Collection of the Year" and "I-d Styling Award" winner Aitor Throup gained great attention from magazines from all around the world, deeply impressed by his style, his outfits, the concept of his collection, the appeal of his drawing skill...in a word by his multi-faceted talent.
Beside the normal attention reserved to the winner chosen by ITS qualified jurors, the coverage press gave extended well into the second half of 2006 and is still growing in the new year.

One key point about this astonishing result is probably connected to the concept of the collection Aitor presented on the catwalk; it is a complete and catchy story, it is about football hooligans who open their eyes and see the craziness of violence after a dramatic aggression, evolving in several Hindi god-like figures; his ability to melt many elements that are rooted inside contemporary English urban culture, and to transform this plot into drawings and then outfits clearly showed how gifted Aitor is not just as a fashion designer, but also as an artist in the broad sense of the word.

Important magazines and fashion websites covered Aitor's appearance and the fact that he won 2 prizes, they featured pictures of the collection and often handmade sketches from his portfolio.

From Austria to Belgium, from Slovenia and Italy to Japan many enthusiastic commenters pointed out different details of Mr.Throup's work , and his two "homelands", Argentina where he was born, and England where he grew up, studied and currently lives gave him special attention.

Style bible I-d dedicated him a major report in the February 2007 issue, and other prestigious magazines such as Tank, Viewpoint and Observer Magazine (to name a few) gave him pages and space and celebrated this "new emerging designer".

In Argentina, the weekly magazine of the most important daily newspaper, "Clarin", recently gave Aitor the cover, and this is another huge recognition for a new rising star who is already appreciated on both sides of the ocean.

He has just been involved in the important MAN exhibition at London Fashion Week, where he presented an interesting installation which caught critics' and crowd's attention. The authoritative Showstudio defined the development from sketch to complete outfit "an intriguing static presentation".

The ITS team wishes him all the success he deserves, we are sure the walk has just begun and we are proud to be part of first important steps.
