Memorabilia

July 24, 2007

More than a week has passed. Nevertheless, ITS#SIX is still in our minds. Once again, perhaps we have changed the lives of some of the young talents who have reached the finals, and built a bridge which will help them cross the border between school and the real world. Again, we were stunned by their amazing capabilities and by how they were able to translate their dreams in their work. The general level of the projects in all of the three competitions was extremely high, which made it a really tough job for the juries to decide the winners: everyone deserved a prize! But we are not worried about it, since our support does not stop at the event, as you know. The real support starts now, and we are sure that there will be lots of people interested who will be asking us the contact details of the finalists for internships and job proposals! We received lots of comments from the guests attending the event which gives special value to all our hard work. Here are just a few:

Wilbert Das - Diesel Creative Director:
"It has been very difficult this year to choose the best collection because for me there were at least 7! For different reasons also for the Diesel Award. I think the average level was high this year but there was no clear number one like last year. Good to see that menswear is getting more and more important with students and also the innovation and influence of sport is playing an interesting role. It's always hard to choose."

Elisa Palomino - Head of Studio Roberto Cavalli:
"ITS#SIX has been again an amazing experience for the entire crowd, both the students and the members of the jury. I feel extremely honoured to be part of this dream every year, to be able to give such an opportunity to such different individuals. ITS is about talent, but it's also about humanity, and it teaches us all a lesson on this very complicated world of fashion. Thank you for making us dream year after year. Please never stop".

Maria Luisa Frisa - Curator & Journalist:
"ITS is an archive in motion. An observatory. A summary of the ideas and the dreams of creatives of the future."

Colin McDowell - Senior Fashion Writer for The Sunday Times Style, Founder of Fashion Fringe:
"Overall, a most stimulating and original competition.
Fashion: very diverse and exciting talents, many of which were more like art than fashion.
Accessories: It is not easy to produce new ideas in accessories but there were many original approaches to solving the problem."

Isabelle Aout - Style Office Director Maison Martin Margiela:
"This is my first participation in ITS and it is a very good experience. Thank you very much for the invitation, I find that there is a very good, young and dynamic energy. The organisation is perfect!! It is always very interesting to see different people (press, designers, producers...), and in such a beautiful city. The selection of the finalists is so varied and interesting. As for accessories, I think there are so many things to do in this field, it has so much potential."

The photos we have chosen to go with this article hopefully will help you catch at least a glimpse of what ITS#SIX was: not only a competition for young fashion designers, accessories designers and photographers, but a place where lots of - in our opinion - special people gather and talk, share, interact. We always consider it a special place out of the world with its own rules and regulations. It is now time for a short holiday break, and then we will come back, and start working on the future of ITS. We wish all of you a special August!! See you in September.
