The Develon Award has its winner!
July 25, 2007
| This year Develon decided to get even more involved in our support philosophy, and so we had several meetings and brainstormed on how they could help our finalists. It's not just business with them, we have become friends and working together has always been perfect: they are quick in understanding our requests and always ready to find the perfect solution using the latest technologies that we know nothing of (in our conversations sometimes it's like meeting with scientists from the Silicon Valley...). |
In the end, we came up with an award which blends what they do best with the needs of a young fashion designer just out of school that wants to promote him/ herself. The Develon Award gives the winner a personalised portfolio website that will be created, and updated for two years free of charge by Develon. The way in which the winner was selected was totally new for ITS. Thanks to Develon, we got all of the guests who attended the fashion show on Saturday 14 July involved! Press people, contestants, jury members, guests, partners, local politicians...every single person was a potential jury member for this prize!
Through a simple SMS text message, everyone could express their preference and vote for the winner. For the first time we saw the whole audience not only looking at the clothes, but also taking notes with their pens on the Develon flyer which we gave to every single guest and contained information on how to vote. When Victoria Cabello, our Master of Ceremonies, arrived on stage after the last collection, she opened the Develon Award voting session and we could see hundreds of people grabbing their phone and writing an SMS with their favourite collection! Develon also decided to pick a person from the audience at random and give him an iPod for free! The lucky one was seen going back home with a smile from cheek to cheek...The results of the SMS text message voting was as follows: the winner of the Develon Award at ITS#SIX is Ek Thongprasert (also winner of Fashion Collection of the Year, so the audience voted just like the jury!) who received a 22.86% of the votes from the audience, followed by Jin Lee with a 16.43%, Angela Ooi with 10.71% and Heaven Tanudiredja with 10%. Ek will soon be in touch with the Develon people (who we affectionately call "Develonians"...very Star Trekian!) to start developing his own portfolio website! |
![]() With this award, Develon embraces even further ITS and gets seriously involved in support. We are very happy about this since they have always done lots of work from behind the scenes, and they were already indirectly giving lots of support. Now they are even more part of the team, if that's possible! |
