ITS#SIX FINALISTS : TALENTS TO DISCOVER IN MILAN

September 27, 2007

TRY ITS, a new project developed by EVE in collaboration with the authoritative Pitti Immagine, will give some of the ITS#SIX finalists another chance to showcase their collections in Milan, during the days of the September edition of the Touch!, neoZone and cloudnine salons, running from 27th to 30th of september. The events are dedicated to womenswear and will be set in the evocative post-industrial location of ex-Ansaldo area in Via Tortona. Pitti Immagine has selected seven fashion and one accessories projects out of all the finalists during the ITS#SIX event in July: are: Yael Ben-Ari (Israel), Jin Lee (South Korea), Chantal Louise McDonald/Susan Maria Dimasi (Australia), Katy Reiss (United Kingdom), Heaven Tanudiredja (Indonesia, who also will showcase his accessories collection), Oden Wilson (United Kingdom) and Ek Thongprasert (Thailand), who also won "Fashion Collection of the Year" prize in July.

Glancing at the list of native countries of the chosen designers, ITS seems to confirm once again the worldwide appeal of its event and signals a new and sometime unexpected de-centralization of the emerging areas that strongly appear and contrast with the traditional fashion maps.
This brand new collaboration with an entity like Pitti Immagine, and the wide public that is going to attend the Milan event means that the ITS#SIX breed will have another important chance to get in touch with a professional audience and to spread their talent in front of qualified visitors. The projects will be presented in a very unusual way, as they won't be on a catwalk but will become elements of an art project created for the event. The different inspirations of the selected designers will melt, combining a spectrum of sensations into a new form which will include simultaneously menswear, womenswear and accessories. It will involve the childhood-adulthood contrast declined by Ek Thongprasert, the fairy tale atmosphere of Yael Ben-Ari, the Japanese Obi influences by Oden Wilson, the complex-simple duality of Katy Reiss, the kaleidoscopic vivid colours used by Jin Lee, the melancholic hues of Heaven Tanudiredja's creations and the tattoed skins of duo Chantal Louise McDonald and Susan Maria Dimasi. The challenge of integrating all these fascinations has been given to one of the new young names of Italian contemporary art, Luca Trevisani, whose recent works will be soon showcased in the exhibition entitled "The Space of your Future" (October 27 - January 20 2008) at the MOT in Tokyo.

Trevisani, who has also been awarded this year the "Premio Furla per l'ARTE", an annual prize assigned to emerging artists, is going to create this unique installation which will be a new art-piece onto itself made of other art-pieces from different creators. Definitely an interesting experiment. At the same time the collaboration between EVE and PITTI IMMAGINE will also involve an ITS#PHOTO finalist... Maria Giulia Giorgiani, one the two winners of Pitti Immagine Photo Award is the author of the official image of the upcoming event . This is a call, as the title of the project itself declares, to TRY ITS protagonists in a different and important environment.
