BARBARA FRANCHIN — Talent Scout
Biography: Barbara Franchin was born in Trieste in 1967. Living in a border zone has led to her openness and curiosity in terms of interfusion in all its forms.
Once obtaining an accountancy diploma, she worked in a real estate agency for a year and a half, getting together the cash to invest in the realisation of her first entrepreneurial idea: an atelier where Barbara and her co—founder created beautiful, extravagant womenswear clothing.
This experience lasted five years and played a big role in her becoming "Head of Young Stylists of Friuli Venezia Giulia". Her propensity for exchange, comparison, curiosity and the search for the creative spark lead her to propose something innovative at the Trade Fair of Gorizia in 1993: the "Young Stylists of Alpe Adria Prize", the embryo of the subsequent Mittelmoda. The new project, created and organised by Barbara Franchin, was welcomed and financed by the Trade Fair of Gorizia.
The growth and development of Mittelmoda, created to provide space for the elaboration and search for talent within the fashion world and guaranteed its becoming an event with international weight in just a few years, with the ample participation of fashion schools from all over the world.
The desire to confront new challenges lead to Barbara's declining the contest's direction after the 2000 edition so as to launch a new and autonomous entrepreneurial project together with her "historic", "life—long" staff in Trieste; an agency, EVE, of which she is Director & Project Supervisor. ITS#ONE — International Talent Support ? an event for young and student stylists from around the world, is EVE's first initiative, which will be christened in Trieste from 11th to 14th July 2002, with the support of companies of the highest level.
