There we go, one of the most concrete aspects of our competition, a true realisation of a dream: the launch of the Diesel Award winner's collection Teppei Sugaya, the talented Japanese winner of the ITS#TWO - Diesel Award, has designed 5 pieces, carrying a customized label with his own name. The collection, produced by Diesel, is now distributed in the most representative Diesel stores worldwide: Diesel Concept Stores in Milan Porta Ticinese, Paris Le Marais and Berlin Mitte, Diesel Denim Galleries in New York and Tokyo, Diesel Flagship Store in London King's Road, and Diesel store in Antwerp (where the ITS#THREE t-shirt, produced by Diesel and made with Ingeo? fiber based fabrics will also be for sale).

Born in Japan, on May 7th 1980, Teppei Sugaya studied at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, and is currently on a scholarship at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London.
Teppei's womenswear garments designed for the Diesel Award include a blue and white cotton knitwear, a vintage look beige shirt, a military old-style jacket, a skirt made of striped cotton shirt fabrics and a mud coloured asymmetric skirt. Cross stitches, strings and laces, antique fabrics, unfinished worn-out edges, misplaced buttons, asymmetric cuts and more... "Many a Little Makes a Mickle" is, in fact, the collection's title.

In each garment Teppei incorporates very diverse and surprising elements and an eclectic mix of textiles, which gives the idea of clothes gone through a vintage process. Oozing a hidden gloomy and trashy, yet romantic, melancholy, the collection represents Teppei's way to respect the effect that time has on things and to erase the edge between vintage and new materials.

We are very proud of him, and of Diesel too, which really made miracles on a production level to fully respect Teppei's peculiar creativity.
