EINAV ZUCKER: when I was called to the stage to get my diesel award, I started to cry in the backstage , I couldn't believe that I heard my name... when I came to the stage I started to sweat and to shake...I couldn't get it. That was me, how did you feel when they called your name?

TEPPEI SUGAYA: It was slightly weird because my name was called just after Renzo Rosso's funny joke, do you remember? 'Who is the winner? Renzo Rosso or me? What a relief!! It was me! ... something like that and I really like that kind of exciting situation.
EZ: before the fashion show did you have the feeling that maybe you were going to be the winner??? TS: hmmm, I shouldn't say ''Yes'' by myself, but I always believe in what I am doing and if I could take the situation calmly...I say ''Yes'' but I wasn't...
EZ: what was the first thing you did after getting the Diesel Award? TS: hmmm, I was trying to monopolize and hug that precious feeling by myself.
EZ: did you sleep that night? how did you feel the day after? - I was still thinking that it was a dream....! TS: I actually slept very well...I was deeply in sweet dream. I felt I accomplished what I should have for 2003...
EZ: how did you imagine "diesel factory" as a place to work in? TS: Diesel factory?? well..I had no idea...to be honest. When I first saw the factory I thought it was the NASA or something...
EZ: have you thought about coming to work for diesel? TS: well..It's really difficult question! I know there are thousand of way to do fashion..hmmm I'd love to because I could feel how much they (Diesel people, especially Wilbert Das) love fashion and I know I really love clothes... so... probably not now maybe in the future. I would also like Diesel to keep an eye on my creations for a while, then we could talk and understand each other for successful living!!!
EZ: your collection is quite particular, did you believe that through industrial processes you could reach the same results for the collection that you designed for ITS#TWO? TS: hmmm I had a little doubt whether they can produce my clothes or not, but they made it! really! Diesel really made it!!! Fantastico! It was fantastic but in a way I always aim to improve deepest creation. So I shouldn't be satisfied! Seek better and better all the time...is my motto.
EZ: how do you feel now, after hard work on your capsule collection and 2 months before the collection will be in the stores? TS: I'm really into it!...expressing my creation! This is what I love
EZ: do you think that diesel customers are going to like your particular collection? TS: I really hope so. But the thing is, it doesn't have to be limited to the same customers who like Diesel. I want to expand people's boundary of thinking fashion. I made it with Diesel this time! I don't think I could make it by myself. My lovely collection will always welcome everybody, who likes Diesel and who doesn't....well whoever they are....
EZ: where do you see yourself in 10 years from now? TS: hopefully still sawing cloth by myself in my own little dilapidated studio....somewhere in Europe, without losing appreciation!
