SARAH WILLIAMS wins the ABSOLUT Accessories Award
The young creative talent from London is presented the award for her Absolut Vintage an object/accessory dedicated to the famous Absolut Vodka bottle.
18 July 2010 - The iconic lifestyle brand Absolut Vodka prides itself on supporting creativity in all its forms of expression, and on Saturday 17 July the company played the leading role in the final evening event at the ITS - an international competition for young creative talent from the worlds of fashion, design and photography - with its Absolut Accessories Award.
As well as hitting the spotlight at the Trieste festival with its cool, ultra-refreshing cocktails, Absolut Vodka awarded its prize to ABSOLUT VINTAGE, the project presented by English creative Sarah Williams. She offered the best interpretation of the spirit inspiring the new contest launched by the Swedish brand for the finalists in the ITS#ACCESSORIES section. For the first time, in fact, the young creatives, who normally design fashion accessories like bags, hats and belts, were asked by ABSOLUT to create an object/accessory to celebrate the personality of the world's most famous vodka.
The retro appeal of the silhouette of the ABSOLUT VINTAGE briefcase recalls the unmistakable shape of the famous bottle. Sarah Williams' creation appears to be an original leather case, but when gripped by the handle and lifted, its very special feature is revealed - an exclusive special case for serving and tasting Absolut Vodka.
Originally from Oxford, Sarah Williams graduated from the London College of Fashion. She was very excited about winning this important award. “I'm really happy to have received this important accolade from Absolut Vodka for the case I designed”, Sarah said. “My design combines the distinctive shape of the iconic Absolut bottle with a craft-made product, creating an object with a new, original concept”.
“Taking part in a prestigious event like ITS is further proof of the special emphasis that ABSOLUT places on emerging young talent, and especially the different creative forms like design, fashion and art. We wanted to stimulate the talents of ITS#NINE, who come from the most prestigious international fashion design schools, and their reaction has been amazing! The youngsters rose magnificently to our challenge, and the choice wasn't at all easy” said Laurent Schun, Marketing Director of Pernod Ricard Italy. “We've chosen Sarah for designing the ABSOLUT VINTAGE case. Its unique, alternative style embodies all the values that the Absolut brand represents”.
