ITS#FIVE: everyone's a winner!
ITS International Talent Support. Trieste, Italy 12-14 July 2006
ITS - International Talent Support is a platform for young creatives from around the globe created and developed by E V E, in collaboration with DIESEL who has backed the project since the very beginning, this year together with YKK partnering ITS#ACCESSORIES and MINI partnering ITS#PHOTO.
The ITS#ACCESSORIES and ITS#PHOTO vernissage opened the event on Thursday 13th of July whilst on Friday 14th of July, all eyes were on the fashion show and award ceremony. Sounds from DJ group Electrosacher accompanied the collections on the catwalk and after party.
ITS#FASHION. On Friday night, 21 collections were headed into competition at the restored Olde Fish Market. Each collection was followed by a projection of its sketches and concepts. After studying portfolios, meeting finalists and viewing collections the jury retired to decide winners:
- Fashion Collection of the Year, €20.000 to create a new collection for ITS#SIX where he will sit in the jury, was awarded to Aitor Throup, British from The Royal College of Art.
- Renzo Rosso, president and founder of DIESEL, presented the Diesel Award which went to Daniel Ivarsson, Swedish student at The Royal College of Art. The winner will get the chance to design a capsule-collection of 5 garments which will be produced by Diesel and distributed in the most representative Diesel stores worldwide, complete with personalised label bearing the designer's name.
- i-D Styling Award, work experience at i-D, publication of the shoot and £3.000 towards expenses was won by Aitor Throup from the Royal college of Art.
- Maria Luisa Award, window display & sale at the Maria Luisa boutique was awarded to Matthieu Blazy, French from La Cambre Ecole National Supérieure des arts visuel.
- Fashion Special Prize, €5.000, went to Mikio Sakabe, Japenese from Hogeschool Antwerpen.
- Tamar Daniel, Israeli, from Shenkar school of Engineering and Design was awarded the WGSN Award, and will have one year's subscription for WGSN website.
Marcus Lereng Wilmont, winner of ITS#FOUR Collection of the Year wooed the audience with his new collection La Société de decadence, 17 outfits of pure indulgence.
ITS#ACCESSORIES. The brand new prize Accessories Collection of the Year €10.000 was won by Heather Blake, British from Royal college of Art, whilst the YKK Accessory Award €10.000 went to Maria Hjelm, Swedish from Royal college of Art. Her accessory will also be the star of a YKK 2006-2007 advertising campaign.
The jury selecting the winners of ITS#FASHION and ITS#ACCESSORIES was composed of: Franca Sozzani - editor in chief of Vogue Italia, Raf Simons -fashion designer & creative director of Jil Sander, Wilbert Das -creative director of Diesel, Cathy Horyn -fashion critic New York Times, Elisa Palomino -Head of John Galliano Studio, Agnes Barret -Head of Maison Martin Margiela Studio, Maria Luisa Poumaillou -Maria Luisa Boutique, Maria Luisa Frisa -curator & journalist, Kei Kagami -fashion designer, Valentina Maggi -Floriane de St. Pierre, Deanna Ferretti -Maglificio Miss Deanna, Marcus Wilmont -winner of collection of the year at ITS#FOUR and Barbara Franchin -Director & Project Supervisor of EVE/ITS#FIVE.
ITS#PHOTO. Remigiusz Pyrdol, American from School of Visual Arts, was awarded with the MINIInternational Photo Award. He will receive €10.000 and publication of photo shoot in MINIInternational magazine and publication of his work in Le Book Paris and Le Book.com. As well as a special prize from the iconic Visionaire, Catherine Sundqvist, Swedish will have the chance to realise a photo shoot that will be published in either Vmagazine or Vman.
The ITS#PHOTO jury was composed of: Anne Urbauer -editor in chief of MINIInternational, Cecilia Dean -editor of Visionaire, Paul Hetherington -creative director of SHOWstudio, Veronique Kolasa -founder of Le Book, Philipp Ebeling -photographer/Fabrica, Denis Curti -Photographic critic and Director of Contrasto, Milano, Danielle Mourning -winner of ITS#PHOTO for MINI at ITS#FOUR.
From the night of Friday 14th of July the best photos of the winners will be online at www.itsweb.org. From the 20th July a video of the fashion show will also be available on the website.
