ITS#SEVEN DIESEL: YOUR FUTURE IN FASHION STARTS HERE
|
Everyone is in search of their big break, and new designers are no exception - the question posed by Diesel, together with Eve, the agency that produces ITS (International Talent Support) in 2002 was how to offer winning designers a foothold in the fashion industry. Over the years Diesel & ITS have done just that - seeking out - as well as ensuring visibility on a global platform - the best in upcoming talent from leading fashion schools worldwide that include the prestigious Central St. Martins College and The Royal College of Art in London, Institut Français de la Mode in Paris, The Royal Academy of Art in Antwerp and The Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo. Gaining international respect in the industry for nurturing new talent, both, Diesel & ITS continue to be committed to their search for the next big thing.
This year's contest - in its seventh edition, inspired by "The Seven Heavenly Sins, The Seven Virtues of Creativity" - will take place from July 18th to 19th 2008 in Trieste, Italy.
Diesel offers genuine support to those who want to express themselves in unpredictable, unique ways, through international projects in fields such as cinema, design, art and music. The DIESEL AWARD presented at ITS celebrates the ideas of young talents, helping them to realize every fashion design student's dream by offering concrete ways to both support and encourage their entrance into the international fashion industry.
TARO HORIUCHI, the winner of the DIESEL AWARD of ITS#SIX, had the opportunity of working with the Diesel Creative Team, an international group of over 40 designers. Taro created an assortment of freely inspired sketches from which Diesel selected a capsule collection to be produced and distributed globally. From March 2008 it will be available in Diesel flagship stores around the world - Milan, Paris, Berlin, New York, Tokyo, Osaka, London and Brussels to name a few - featuring the winner's name on the label and attracting attention from media as well as top international fashion houses and buyers.
Born in Tokyo (Japan) in 1982, the 25 year-old designer Taro Horiuchi is currently studying at Hogeschool Antwerpen. He is inspired by African primitive religions, art pieces, tattoos and colours, in which Taro has discovered many futuristic geometric forms. He has applied all these aspects to his work with the use of sports and tailoring techniques as well as the addition of layers of transparent fabrics in different colours.
The ITS#SEVEN finalists will unveil their creations in front of a jury which includes important names from the fashion industry that have included: Sofia Kokosalaki, Raf Simons, Antonio Marras, Antonio Berardi, Colin Mc Dowell, Franca Sozzani and Wilbert Das, Diesel Creative Director.
