Seen as a whole, High Schools 4 ITS Archive is a first glimpse into the potential of the ITS Arcademy, where the development of didactic projects aimed at elementary, middle and high school students coming from all over Italy - with the participation of companies to provide tools, knowledge and manufacturing - will be fundamental.
High Schools Produce 4 ITS Archive involved students from fashion design courses at High Schools of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The aim was to widen their perspective inspiring their future education and career choices by challenging them with a fashion-based briefing that had the ITS Creative Archive at its core.
Early in February 2019, students attending the 4th and 5th (final) year at Liceo Artistico Statale Enrico e Umberto Nordio in Trieste and Liceo Artistico Statale Giovanni Sello in Udine were invited for a visit of the ITS Creative Archive. They went through the over 230 outfits, 125 accessories and 86 jewelry items to pick one as their inspiration for a radical re-design.
Their outfit proposals woud have to involve the recycling of unused denim fabrics provided by iconic fashion brand Diesel, thrilled to jump on board and challenge the students asking them to include Diesel's own key pillars in their designs: clubbing, rock, sport and utility/functional garments.
For three months the students worked on their proposals - counting on feedback from Diesel and ourselves for any question or need they might have - and in April they handed them over for evaluation. The quality of the projects led to the selection of three winners an several special mentions, when in the beginning the plan was to award two students. 4th year student Martina Pollastri won for Liceo Nordio, with Matilde Pernacic (final year) receiving a special mention. For Liceo Sello Vania Dai and Giada Pegoraro, both final year students, were selected as winners with special mentions for Giulia Tambosco and Marta Zanini (final year students as well).
The Awards Ceremony was held at Fondazione CRTrieste, the home of ITS Arcademy with over 1800 square meters to welcome our Creative Archive, temporary exhibitions, workshops, courses and much more. At the presence of Fondazione CRTrieste's President Tiziana Benussi and Fondazione Friuli's President Giuseppe Morandini the winners revealed their outfits, which will be included in the ITS Creative Archive permanent collection. Their important support was key in making the entire project possible.
Both the award winners and the special mentions were granted the exclusive opportunity to meet with the ITS 2019 finalists during the event, with Rina Tollio (Acquisitions Manager for Creative Roles at OTB) as their very special guide, explaining details and aspects of the projects presented by our new generation of talents on July 12th. Needless to say they also attended the final evening, an opportunity to witness an international fashion show and exhibition of the highest level and mingle with the ITS Family.
If this wasn't enough Arianna Colajori, a 1st year student at the Audiovideo Course of DAMS Gorizia - Università degli Studi di Udine documented the entire project - from the first visit to the ITS Creative Archive right down to the students' ITS 2019 experience - through beautiful pictures and short videos which you can appreciate here. We look forward to Arianna's last edit with footage from the event, which will be published in September.
High Schools Produce 4 ITS Archive will become one of the many activities of the ITS Arcademy, evolving to include even more schools from our territory, providing them with more possibilities to be inspired about their future and using the ITS Creative Archive and our finalists as triggers.
The future is very bright, and exciting.
